The makers on Shruti Haasan's birthday released a bold poster showing Shruti smoking a cigarette. Now, speaking to scribes, Pavan Sadineni revealed more about Shruti's role. He said “Shruti Haasan plays a contemporary girl who wants to live life on her own terms. There is nothing bold about the character,”

He added “It is simply a reflection of today’s mindset, not meant to sensationalize anything," He continued “Probably, she was looking for exciting roles. When we approached her and narrated the story, she immediately liked it. Akasamlo Oka Tara is a breezy entertainer, and working with her has been quite interesting,”

On the chemistry between the lead pair, Pavan said “You will have to wait and watch how their equation evolves on screen,” On Kamal Haasan and Shruti Haasan being part of Kalki 2898AD, he said “It’s great that both father and daughter are associated with Telugu cinema at the same time.”
