Malavika recently commented "In Tamil and Telugu cinema, for the longest time, I have known actresses who don't even bother to learn their lines. For example, if a scene requires you to be sad, you simply make a sad expression and count '1, 2, 3, 4' or say 'A, B, C, D.' If you are supposed to be angry, you just recite the alphabet, knowing that someone will eventually match the lips to the dialogue during dubbing. This isn't a one-off occurrence; there are actors who have done this for their entire careers."
