Cbfc chief reacts to Toxic teaser and Jana Nayagan controversy. Prasoon Joshi, chief of  the Censor Board of Film Certification (Cbfc), speaking to scribes shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Yash's Toxic teaser and also Vijay's Jana Nayagan censor certification.

He said “I don’t think I would give any comment right now.” and added “I don’t think unless the things are applied to the certification board. Sometimes, I also want to clarify that a lot of things you see on YouTube and other digital platforms, at times they are not certified. So people think that everything they are seeing is certified.”

He continued “Digital media, a lot of things you see, have not gone through the process of certification. So sometimes it’s very unfair what people see on OTT, YouTube and other digital platforms, assume that this has been certified by the Cbfc. And the truth is, it has not,”

He concluded “And nobody out there would see, it’s a job, it’s a tough job for people there. They (the Cbfc board members) are trying to balance what the filmmaker is saying and what society expects. So there is a balance, and that’s the role of this body,”

About Vijay's Jana Nayagan, he refused to comment saying the matter is subjudice.
