Mohanlal's latest film Vrusshabha has flopped at the box office, earning only less than Rs 1 Crore net on its opening day in India. The film, released in Malayalam and Telugu, was expected to be a grand festive release but failed to generate buzz and attract audiences.

The fantasy action drama, made on a budget of ₹70 crores, has registered the second-lowest opening for Mohanlal in the post-COVID era, only surpassing Alone (₹45 lakh). The film's poor bookings led to a steep drop in shows and screens by Day 2, indicating a disastrous run.

Vrusshabha's opening day collection is a far cry from Mohanlal's usual success, with his last release Hridayapoorvam earning ₹3.25 crores. The film's negative word of mouth and reviews have further diminished its chances of gaining momentum.

With a long way to go to recover its production costs, Vrusshabha is heading towards being a massive box office disaster. The film's failure is a significant setback for Mohanlal, who has been on a golden run this year with L2 Empuraan and Thudarum.
