Chitralayam Studios is moving full steam ahead with its upcoming crime comedy Baa Baa Black Sheep, a film that promises a whirlwind of guns, gold, and a one day hunt involving six colourful characters. Produced by Venu Donepudi, the project launched in October and is currently progressing at a rapid pace across the misty hills of Meghalaya, famously known as the ‘Land of Clouds’. The story unfolds in a single day, delivering a fast paced, comedic chase that blends thriller elements with hearty laughs.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Tinnu Anand, Upendra Limaye, George Marian, Raja Ravindra, Akshay Lagusani, Vishnu Oi, Karthikeya Dev, Kasyap, Vismaya, Malvi Malhotra, and Samriddhi Aryal. According to producer Venu Donepudi, Baa Baa Black Sheep is the first feature to be shot entirely in Meghalaya, leveraging the state’s dramatic waterfalls, towering mountains, and exotic locales to create a visual feast. “The narrative demands an entirely different landscape filled with natural beauty,” Venu explains, “and after an extensive recce, we have zeroed in on Meghalaya.”

Principal photography is taking place in Sohra (Cherrapunji), one of the wettest places on Earth. Venu acknowledges the challenges of shooting in relentless rain and low light, praising the dedication of the cast and crew for overcoming the tough conditions. The production house has also forged a partnership with the Government of Meghalaya, with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma recently meeting the unit to assure full support and commend their efforts.

Chitralayam Studios, is introducing director Guni Manchikanti with this film. With a well crafted script, strong cast, and breathtaking visuals, Baa Baa Black Sheep has potential to deliver love, laughter, and fun to audiences nationwide. The team aims to complete filming in record time and bring the comedy thriller to theatres soon.
