Pooja Hegde Says Bollywood Type casted Her In Glamorous Roles

Pooja Hegde is making headlines with her performance in the song Monica from the film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan. The film is set to release on August 14, clashing with War 2 at the box office. Pooja Hegde will also be seen opposite Vijay in the upcoming political action drama Jana Nayagan.

Pooja Hegde recently opened up about her Bollywood roles, stating that the industry often typecast her as a glamorous heroine. She cited her films like Cirkus, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Housefull 4 as examples where she wasn't offered challenging parts. However, she praised Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro for giving her a slightly different role.

In contrast, the South Indian film industry has offered her more substantial characters, like in Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Suriya. Pooja Hegde emphasized the importance of auditioning to break free from stereotypical roles, saying, "Filmmakers have a certain perception about actors, especially female actors, as we tend to get typecast easily".

Pooja Hegde's film choices showcase her versatility, from dancing in the Monica song to playing an investigative journalist in Deva alongside Shahid Kapoor. With upcoming films like Jana Nayagan and Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde is set to entertain audiences across industries.
