SC clears Udaipur Files for release

Finally, the makers of Udaipur Files got a huge relief when the Supreme Court cleared decks for its release. As such now, the film willbe releasing on 8 Aug 2025.

The film was earlier titled 'Gyanvapi Files: A Tailor's Murder Story' and was slated for release initially on 11 July 2025. But it got emroiled in legal and censor tangles. Vijay Raaz is playing the role of Kanhaiya Lal in the film helmed by Bharat Shrinate.

Amit Jani produced the film. Director Bharat speaking to scribes shared  "We respect the Supreme Court's order and are ready to release the film on August 8. Jani Firefox Films is going to start promotions and release Udaipur Files worldwide on August 8. Truth always wins."

Udaipur Files was based on the Udaipur-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in June 2022 allegedly by Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghous. After the brutal murder the murderers released the video on social media claiming responsibility saying they murdered him for allegedly sharing a social media post in support of former BJP member Nupur Sharma following her controversial comments on Prophet Mohammed.

NIA booked the case and currently the trail is pending in Udaipur.
