Zee 5 Telugu is known for coming up with entertaining, thrilling and exciting films and webseries. Now it is coming with Viraatapalam: PC Meena Reporting and the crime thriller web series is streaming on Zee 5 from 27 June 2025. Let us see how the webseries thrilled movie lovers.
Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting story revolves around the mysterious deaths of newlywed brides. Young Cop Meena (Abhignya Vuthaluru) gets transferred to a small village Viraatapalem and comes to know that the city is gripped with fear and no girls are interested in getting married.
To find out what is that fear and why the girls are not getting married and how it is connected to Kittu (Charan Lakkaraju), Bramaramba (Lavanya Shaukara), Village President (Ramaraju), head constable (Gowtham Raju) form the rest of the narration.
Abhignya Vuthaluru performed well in the lead role. She is ok with her looks and performance and though she took time, she held her forte and carried herself forward on the screen.
Surabhi Prabhavati made an impression with her performance bringing all her experience on the screen. Others like Charan Lakkaraju, Lavanya sahukara, Ramaraju, Gowtham Raju & Satish performed according to their roles.
Viraatapalem-PC Meena Reporting story is penned by Divya Thejaswi Pera and Poluru Krishna of Recce web series directed it. The screenplay is provided by Vikram Kumar Kandimalla. The series comes with 8 episodes each with a duration of 30-40 minutes.
He tries to thrill viewers with a suspense thriller and starts the narration in an interesting and gripping manner. The first three episodes excite all as he establishes various characters and reveals the developments quite interestingly. But from the start of the fourth episode he loses steam and with the predictability creeping in, viewers lose interest in the proceedings.
It seems with an eye on season 2 the makers unnecessarily dragged the narration and in the end, ended up testing the patience of the viewers. Unlike the gripping crime thrillers, where each episode ends with an interesting twist and turn, in this director tries to end with a suspicion pointing to one or the other character but he overdoes it and becomes predictable and monotonous.
Elevating the female cop trying to solve the case single handedly is ok but it should look believable and realistic. This one looked over the top and artificial and with the other support cast turning weak and failing to elevate the proceedings, it turned out to be even more glaring. The motives of the criminal looked weak and the backstories broke the back of the web series as they lacked the substance and depth.
To the top of it, the lead character deciding to get married to nab a criminal looked childish, silly and outdated. For all the efforts, the writers chose a convenient path and didn't bother much to challenge themselves and the screenplay looked sluggish and lethargic. It looked like one is watching a TV serial and not a web series and the production values are below average.
Divya Thejaswi Pera's dialogues at times are good. Cinematography of Mahesh K Swaroop is an added value showing the scenes in a natural and realistic way. Editing of Farooq Hundekar is good. The BGM of Rohith Kumar and music of Mihiraamsh is in sync with the story. Production values are substandard.
Altogether, Viratapalem: PC Meena Reporting turns out to be a crime drama with no sting. Director Poluru Krishna starts the narration quite interestingly but loses steam within minutes much to the disappointment of all. Except for a few twists, the webseries offered nothing new, making it a tedious watch. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1.75 rating for Viratapalem-PC Meena Reporting.
