Usurae's story revolves around a youngster who sincerely loves a girl and how he deals with the consequences and the aftermath of the situation. 

Raghava ( Teejay Arunasalam), who works as a quarry manager, silently starts loving a beautiful girl, Ranjana ( Janany Kunaseelan).

Where his silent love leads to and what role Ranjana's mother Anasuya ( Raasi) played, and how Raghava's parents Subramani ( Crane Kumar), Nagamma( Senthil Kumari) , Eka (Aditya Kathir), Subbu (Thanga Durai), Latchee (Pavel Navageethan) played from the rest of the narration.

Teejay Arunachalam played the lead role to perfection. He impressed all with his screen presence. He delivered dialogues in a sedate and subtle manner. He showed good expressions and emotions according to the situation. He made a lasting impression with his performance elevating the scenes. He showed variations as a happy youngster, a person in love, and someone who loves his mother a lot. 

Janany Kunaseelan looked good on the screen. She didn't get much presence in the first half, but in the second half she impressed all with her performance, emoting according to the situation. 

Raasi got a powerful but predictable role and she made her presence felt. Thanga Durai, Manthara, Crane Kumar, Senthil Kumari performed according to their roles. 

Usurae (2025) Movie: Technicians Review

Usurae story is penned by Naveen D Gopal. He drew inspiration from a few real life incidents and tried to come up with a love story with a twist. The entire first half assumes predictable flavor and one wonders that the story is going nowhere. But the performance of Teejay Arunachalam and the music made the scenes watchable. The first half ends on a predictable note setting the tone for the second half.

The second half picks up pace, but the monotonous elements and lack of real twists and turns make it a tedious watch. Only during the pre-climax and climax scenes, interest is generated once again with the shocking twist, with a flurry of emotions taking everyone by surprise.

Kiran Joze came up with beautiful and melodious tunes. The songs are situational and shot in the backdrop of the natural and visually appealing locations. His background music is in sync with the story and elevates the scenes. 

Mani Maaran's editing left a lot of repetitive scenes which impacted the flow of the narration, especially in the first half. Mukunthan Seevarathinam's Cinematography captured the scenic locations and beautified the scenes on the big screen. 

Dialogues are decent but offer nothing new. Production values are good.

Altogether, Usurae is a predictable love story. Teejay Arunachalam came up with a spirited performance and showed his acting talent. Director Nanda Gopal planned to entertain viewers with a youthful love story. However, the routine story and predictable screenplay, lacking real twists except for the climax, undermined all his intentions. Little finetuning of the script, racy screenplay and few more appealing scenes would have added more fire power. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Usurae.
