Sisu: Road To Revenge revolves around a former soldier and his experiences when he tries to transport the treasure he finds into his city and how he deals with him. Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tomilla), is renowned as a soldier who refuses to die, a former Finnish commando tries to rebuild his house in a safe place after dismantling it. Why he dismantle it and why Soviet Red Army officer Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang) and KGB Officer (Richard Bake) are after him form the rest of the interesting developments.
Jorma Tomilla continued from where he left in the first part. He enacted action sequences with ease and showed good emotions and expressions especially during the climax. On many occasions, he expressed through his eyes making a powerful impact.
Richard Brake played the role in a silent manner and he looked apt in the role of a silent killer. The scenes featuring him and Jorma Tomilla are a treat to watch. Stephan Lang is fine in his role.
Sisu: Road To Revenge story is penned by director Helander. He came up with a pretty straightforward story and he already went on record that he drew inspiration from films like Indiana Jones , James Bond, and Buster Keaton’s films. He stuck to the point and didn't get carried away to introduce new characters in the name of generating hype on the sequel. He continued from where he left in the first part and entered seamlessly into the narration taking the viewers into the story.
He included more action sequences and little comedy to attract viewers. The action sequences are designed in such a way to thrill move lovers. As promised, the film is a full blown action with racy screenplay. The story is pretty predictable and screenplay is unidimensional.
Cinematography of Mika Orsama is good and he showed the scenes of the 1940s backdrop in a realistic manner using the color combinations judiciously. Editing is quite racy and there are no real drags. The background score elevated the scenes and the stunt choreographers designed the stuns in such a way to captivate all and wow the action movie lovers. Dialogues are ok and Production values are good.
Altogether Sisu: Road To Revenge is a violent action entertainer. Jorma Tomilla came up with a powerpacked performance and director Jalmari Helander stayed true to the story and the script and came up with out and out action entertainer offering noting more and nothing less. Screenplay is racy and script is good and he did justice with his direction aided by the talented technical team. The film is a worthy sequel to the original. Considering all these elements Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Sisu-The Road to Revenge.
