Shambhala story revolves around the mysterious happenings in the village of Shambhala when a meteor crashes into it. Geo Scientist Vikram (Aadi Sai Kumar) who is an atheist is entrusted with the responsibility of not hurning the sentiments and beliefs of the people of Shambhala and at the same time examine the mysterious happenings in the aftermath of the metor that falls on the village.
Where this leads to and how SI Hanumantu (Madhunandan), Devi (Archana Iyer), Vasantha (Swasika Viay), Krishna (Ravi Varma), Dr.Chakravarthy (Harshavardhan) are connected to it form rest of the narration.
Aadi Sai Kumar came up with a spirited performance. He did well in the role of a scientist who doesn't blindly believe in beliefs but looks for scientific reasoning. His body language is good and he came up with good expressions and emotions. He delivered dialogues with ease and made his presence felt with his performance. Aadi Saikumar's performance is one of the highlights where his role as Vikram is complex, with multiple layers that Aadi Sai Kumar brings to life. His emotional depth and action sequences are impressive, making Vikram a compelling protagonist.
Archana Iyer is good in her role. She got an important role and did full justice. However she did not get much chance to show her acting talent. Ravi Varma is good in his role making an impact. Harshavardhan appeared in a scene and senior actress Annapurna performed well in a key role.
Shiju made his presence felt in the role of a priest while Lakshman Meesala, Indraaniel, Praveen,Shiva Karthik, Ramarao Jadhav,Ramaraju and others performed according to their roles.
Shambhala story is penned by Ugandhar Muni. He came up with a story blended scientific elements and mystic happening to engage viewers. The narration starts in a interesting away and the first half goes on smoothly with interesting and exciting happenings. The screenplay is good and direction goes in a seamless manner with the dialogues featuring science and beliefs shown in a good way.
This sets the stage for the gripping second half. However, the second half feels repetitive for sometime after the backstory is revealed. But maintaining faster pace, centering on uncovering the root cause and finding a solution made it work. With a tighter screenplay during this part in second half would have made it more perfect. But, things get culminated towards climax and gives a satisfactory conclusion towards the end.
Shravan Katikaneni's editing left a lot to be desired specially in the second half. The cinematography of Praveen K Bangarri's is good and showed the scenes as per the situation and according to the storyline. Sricharan Pakala's music is ok and background music enhanced the experience. It added value to the narration. Dialogues are good and at times thought provoking. Production values of Shining Pictures are good.
Altogether, Shambhala almost delivers what promises in the end turning out to be an engaging horror thriller. Director Ugandhar Muni came up with a good idea and started it in an interesting manner. This generated interest among viewers and he kept the intersest levels intact for the first half. The second half too maintains the momentum by revealing interesting backstory in an engaging manner. But after that, the film gets repetitive sometimes. Little bit of finetuning of the second half, would have added more value to the final result. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.75 rating for Shambhala.
