Papam Prathap story revolves around a youngster who falls in love and gets married only to experience shocking developments and how he observing overcomes them.

Thiruveer slipped into the role effortlessly. He showed variations in his role quite well. He impressed all with his expressions and dialogue delivery. He with his screen presence entertained everyone to the core. He emoted well during emotional scenes and generated humour with his comic timing.
Payal Radha Krishna looked glamorous on the screen and performed decently. She came up with good performance in emotional scenes. Raashi came up with decent performance in the role of mother.
Ajay Ghosh impressed all with his emotional perfomance. But at times he turned loud and went overboard. Goparaju Ramana played an inconsequential role. Devi Prasad is good in his role.
Ravi Anthony attracts with his hilarious antics. Raghu Babu,Prasad Behra,Ananth Babu,Basha and Others perfomed according to their roles. Avasarala Srinivas played an important cameo.
Papam Prathap story is penned by SP. Durga Naresh. He came up with an interesting plot and he narrated in an entertaining manner.
Throughout the first half, he established the characters and their nature in a natural, hilarious and entertaining way. In the middle of the first half, he touched the core point and ended the first half with an interesting twist.
He included the second half with intense emotions and highlighted the REM sleep disorder to take the proceedings to the next level. He came up with a decent story and complemented it with a screenplay and direction. He ended the film with a predictable climax which is dragged to the core.
The tunes scored by K.M. Radha Krishna are situational and they are shot in a natural way. Couple of songs are melodious. The background score scored by Suresh Bobbili is in sync with the story. He elevated few scenes in an impactful manner.
The editing of Anwar Ali is ok. But there are scenes that slowed the pace of the narration. Vishweshwar S.V with his Cinematography beautifies the film. He captured the scenic locations in a natural and realistic manner. Dialogues are entertaining and hilarious. Production values are good.
Altogether, Papam Prathap turns out to be a silly entertainer. Director SP.Durga Naresh tried to come up with a hilarious romantic entertainer with sleeping disorder. But with the core point a small one, he tried beating around the bush for the entire first half with numerous illogical scenes in the name of comedy. Though the comedy to some extent managed to evoke few laughs, the story moves nowhere.
Once the problem is revealed in the first half, from then on it becomes a tortorous watch to the viewers. Once the first half ends, viewers know where the story is heading and how the protagonist goes to resolve his problem. From then on, various emotional and over the top , silly scenes come before he talks of REM sleep disorder.
The entire cast and crew came up with spirited performances but SP.Durga Naresh partly failed to create the maximum impact as the story, screenplay and direction turned out to be just average. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Papam Prathap.
