Madharaasi (2025) Movie: What's Behind

Kollywood star Sivakarthikeyan scored hits doing different genre entertainers and his stardom increased with Amaran. He is now coming to entertain viewers with Madharaasi. The film is helmed by Murugadoss, a renowned director. Murugadoss' previous films and even his last Sikandar with Salman Khan turned out to be a disaster. Madharaasi OTT rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime. It has to be seen how Madharaasi impressed movie lovers when it releases on 5 Sep 2025.

Madharaasi story is all about a youngster who is desperate to commit suicide for a reason and a police officer who is out to prevent gun culture entering into Tamil Nadu. 

Raghu Ram (Sivakarthikeyan) is desperate to end his life for a reason and it all boils down to what happens when he accidentally comes into contact with a senior NIA officer Premnath (Biju Menon), who is on a mission to prevent gun culture entering the state of Tamil Nadu. What role medico Malathy (Rukmini Vasanth), Weapon Dealer Virat (Vidyut Jamwal), Chirag (Shabeer Kallarakkal) and others form rest of the narration.

Sivakarthikeyan did full justice to his role. He slipped into the role effortlessly and showed variations according to the situation. He looked sincere as a lover, as a delusion patient. He showed good expressions and emotions in a realistic way. He did stunts with ease. 

Rukmini Vasanth played an important role but for limited screen presence. She made her presence felt in a subtle manner. Biju Menon is good in the role of cop. Vidyut Jammwal looked stylish and displayed his skills in high octane strings and Shabeer Kallarakkal is good in the roles of villains. Others performed according to their roles.

Madharaasi story is provided by Murugadoss. Murugadoss for the story drew inspiration from his earlier films like Ghajini. Though it generates interest, the slow pace in the narration, illogical Scenes and loopholes in the screenplay impacted the thrill in the story. 

The story is just predictable and Sivakarthikeyan's characterization increases curiosity. The first half head few interesting elements and it generates interest with the pre interval and interval block. The second half assumes a serious tone unlike the first half which has few hilarious scenes. However, the second half is marred by predictable elements. Too many songs and their placement undid the good work. The action blocks are well choreographed in an interesting manner. The screenplay turned out to be uninspiring and chunav offered nothing new. 

Anirudh Ravichander who is known for his thumping background music, this time failed to make any impact. His background music didn't elevate even a single scene. The songs are not at all appealing and none of them fail to register to the listeners. 

The Cinematography of Sudeep Elamon showed the action sequences in a realistic manner. Sreekar Prasad's editinh left a lot to be desired. There are many scenes that impacted the pace of the narration. Production values are decent.

Altogether, Madharaasi turns out to be routine action thriller. Sivakarthikeyan did full justice to his role though Murugadoss failed to do so with his story and screenplay. Except for few action sequences, the narration missed the exciting twists and thrills. To the top of it, he turned NIA into laughing stock. Considering all these points, Cinejosh goes with a 2.25 rating for Madharaasi.
