Karate Kid: Legends(2025) Movie: Artists Review

Ben Wang did well in the role of the youngster who dreams big but finds it difficult to overcome his fears due to the happenings in his life. He performed stunts quite well on the screen.

Sadie Stanely is good in the role of Wang's girlfriend. She is bubby and energetic on the screen. Joshua Jackson is good as her father while Ming-Na Wen did well in the role of Wang's mother who is concerned about his safety.

Aramis Knight made an impact with his screen presence. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are good and the scenes traiing Wang entertains all. Ben Wang and Aramis Knight's duel is good on screen. Others performed according to their roles.

Karate Kid: Legends(2025) Movie: Technicians Review

Karate Kid Legends written by Rob Lieber and directed by Jonathan Entwistle is the inspired by and is the continuation of The Karate Kid Franchise and is set after the events of the television series Cobra Kai (2018–2025). The story follows similar and familiar pattern of earlier Karate Kid series and offers nothing new. However, interest is generated when the scenes featuring youngster training much older person to fight a bout. But except that the story, screenplay and direction offered nothing new.

To generate interest the director forces the characters of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio to train the youngster and make him overcome his inner fears and instil self confidence. Everything looks unconvincing and he has taken many cinematic liberties and missed the emotions completely.

While the director took his own sweet time to establish characters and wasted time in the youngster training the elder person, the second half turns extremely fast paced with no time to breath though the scenes are predictable. Everything is fast paced and is rushed much to the surprise and disappointment of all. Character arcs of all the roles are underdeveloped and the nostalgia of seeing Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio goes missing completely.

Dialogues are ok to some extent. The final competition five boroughs just pass through the motions robbing off all the excitement. Editing of Dana E. Glauberman is ok and cinematography of Justin Brown is decent. Dominic Lewis' BGM is just average. Production values are fine.

Karate Kid: Legends(2025) Movie: Advantages

  • Few Stunt Sequences
  • Interesting Plot

Karate Kid: Legends(2025) Movie: Disadvantages

  • Missing Soul
  • Predictable Scenes
  • Rushed Stunts, Climax

Karate Kid: Legends(2025) Movie: Rating Analysis

Altogether, Karate Kid Legends turns out to be a disappointing affair. Ben Wang came up with a spirited performance and Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio appears in special roles. However director Jonathan Entwistle despite coming up with a promising idea, failed to establish the character arcs and emotions in an impactful manner. He should have worked on the script and fine tuned it before proceeding ahead with the project. With nostalgia missing, movie lovers feel disconnected. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Karate Kid-Legends.
