Gedela Raju Kakinada Taluka (2026) Movie: What's Behind

Renowned music composer Raghu Kunche is playing the lead role in the film titled interestingly as Gedelaraju Kakinada Taluka. The film directed by Chaitanya Moturi is releasing on 24 April 2026. The film is having a solo release as it is the only straight Telugu film releasing in theatres this week. Only other film is Malayalam hit Vaazha2. Let us see whether Gedelaraju can make the best use of the advantage at the box office. Gedelaraju OTT rights are yet to be finalised.

Gedela Raju story revolves around a dreaded rowdy and the shocking happenings in his life and how it impacts the lives of those revolving around him, and who was responsible for the startling developments.

Gedela Raju aka Bhagavan Raju (Raghu Kunche), the most dreaded rowdy in Kakinada aspires to become a politician. Even before he could realise his dream, startling developments shock entire Kakinada.

What are those startling developments, and how it is connected to Durga (Srikanth Iyengar) who is into the liquor business, CI Swati Kumar (Divya Yarramsetty), Rich (Vikas Muppala), his girl friend Meera (Mounika Kalapala), his father David (Chakradhar), Vijay (Ramachandram Punyamanthula) and his girl freind Satya (Teena Shravya),Shivayya (Ravi Anand Chinnabilli), Dekka (Rohit Akhil) and others from rest of the narration.

Raghu Kunche played his role according to the situation. The role comes with only one emotion and he portrayed it perfectly on the screen. He showed good body language and mannerisms and sported a menacing look in his expressions and dialogue delivery.

Ravi Anand Chinnabilli played the all important role and he got equal screen presence along with Raghu Kunche. He played his part and it comes with a twist.

Srikanth Iyengar as usual played the role of the aspiring politician quite well. The role is tailormade for him. Vikas Muppala looked good and handsome on the screen. He did his job accordingly. Mounika Kalapala is good on the screen she showed good emotions.

Ramachandram Punyamanthula played the role of the true lover in a realistic way. Teena Shravya is good in the role of his girlfriend.  Divya  Yerramsetty made her presence felt in the role of the CI along with Bhavani Prasad who played the role of SI Prudhvi. Kittayya and Umamaheswari played the roles of Satya's parents. Others performed according to their roles.

Gedela Raju Kakinada Taluka: Technical Review

Gedela Raju story is penned by Chaitanya Moturi. He tried to show the after-effects in the lives of the happenings of a dreaded rowdy  once he loses his life. He starts the narration in an interesting manner and from then on investigation starts. He chose a non linear screenplay to generate interest among viewers.

The narration comes with the vioce over of the character and while at the start it excites all , but with the passage of time, it diluted the intensity. The investigation is shown in a normal manner without any real twists and turns and this reduced the interest levels among movie lovers. To the top of it, he deviated from the core plot, concentrating on the love stories of two pairs and the happenings in their respective families. The film's first half ends setting the tone for the interesting second half.

The second half also follows the similar pattern without much exciting happening in the proceedings. Everything looks predictable and monotonous and even the non linear screenplay starts confusing and irritating viewers. Finally when the film ends, viewers will heave a sigh of relief.

Raghu Kunche tuned the music. The songs are situational and are shot in natural locations. Both the songs followed more or less the same tune. He did justice to the proceedings with his background music. Editing of Sudheer Yedla could have been far better. There are many scenes that slowed the pace and dragged the proceedings.The cinematography of Sai Kumar Dara and Chaitanya Kumar Lagudu showed the scenes in a natural and realistic manner capturing the live locations quite well and did justice enhancing the output. Dialogues are ok. Production values are decent.

Altogether, Gedelaraju turns out tobe routine murder mystery. Raghu Kunche played the important role in the film and he even presented it. The title also is not justified in a proper manner. Chaitanya Moturi tried to thrill viewers with the murder mystery. He stars the narration interestingly but right after that he loses plot completely.

Opting for a non linear screenplay for a simple story resulted in confusing the viewers. To the top of it, he included many unnecessary scenes and so though the film has just over 2 hours duration, one gets a feeling that they are watching it for more than four hours. After all that drags, he tried to increase the curiosity by touching upon Mahabharata and Kanika Neeti in it but by that time, viewers started looking towards the exit doors. A little finetuning of the script, racy screenplay and doing away with unnecessary scenes would have added value to the output. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.25 rating for Gedela Raju.
