Constable Kanakam story revolves around a lady constable who assumes duty and findsout the shocking experiences of disappearance of girls. Kanakam (Varsha Bollamma) joins as Constable in Repalle village in Srikakulam district. Soon she comes to know about the disturbing trend of young girls missing.
What shocking findings Constable Kanakam unearths during her investigation of a missing girl Chandrika (Meghalekha) and how she overcame the sensational developments form rest of the developments.
Varsha Bollamma performed well in the role. She came up with good emotions and expressions and carried the narration forward.The entire story revolves around her. Rajeev Kanakala, Ramana Bhargav and Prem Sagar's supported Varsha Bollamma with their performances. Avasarala Srinivas added value to the narration with his unique style of performance. Others like Jwala Koti, Rakendu Mouli, Megha Lekha, Kishore Kumar performed accoring to their roles.
Constable Kanakam story is penned by director Prashanth Kumar Dimmala. The webseries hogged the limelight when the makers accused the makers of the webseries of Viratapalem of plagiarising their content. Prashanth Kumar came up with a good point in the story but he failed in his execution.
Viewers will be wondering what the director was upto due to the directionless first three episodes. With him introducing numerous characters which one feel many are unnecessary, raised the interest, after sometime, they ended up confusing and testing the patience levels.
With 3 out of the 6 episodes going for a toss, the director was always doing the tough catchup job and it was never easy.He generated interest with Avasarala Srinivas' surprise twist in the last episode. He could have written Kanakam character even more indepth, establishing her fears in a more convincing manner.
The background score of Suresh Bobbili made an impact on the scenes. He elevated the twists and the scenes with his background music. Though the narration lacked content, he added value to the narration with the BGM. Cinematography of Sriram is good. Editing of Madhav Kumar Gullapalli could have removed the repetitive scenes and drags in the narration. Production values are decent.
Altogether, Constable Kanakam lacks substance, Prashanth Kumar Dimmala failed to narrate the story in an impactful manner. With missing thrills and minus impactful performances, Constable Kanakam ends up testing the patience of the viewers. The series ends with a lead to the second part but it will be a difficult task unless until they address all the glaring mistakes and blunders in this series. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Constable Kanakam.
