Kalyan Ram is known for his penchant for doing different genre entertainers and unique roles. He captured the imagination of all with his performance in the film Bimbisara. However , after Bimbisara He failed to sustain the momentum in his next two films. He is now starring in the film titled Arjun S/o Vyjayanthi. The film marks the debut of Pradeep Chilukuri as the director. Vijayashanthi who rejected many offers after Sarileru Neekevvaru, got connected to the role and did an important role.
The presence of yesteryear actress Vijayashanti and the promotions of Young Tiger NTR and his speech during the pre release event, elevated the expectations on the film. and Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi OTT rights are yet to be finalised and it will be inked at a later date.
Let us see whether Kalyan Ram made an impact as Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi at the box office.
Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi story is about a sincere and honest female police officer and how she fights the adversaries and also protects her son.
Arjun (Kalyan Ram) weilds immense power and control over the entire city of Vizag and much to the surprise of cops, the people are happy with it.
Why the people are happy with it, why his mother, former commissioner Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanthi) complains against him and how is connected to Arjun's wife Chitra (Saiee Manjrekar), Pathan (Sohail Khan) form the interesting part.
Kalyan Ram is at his energetic best. He showed good emotions and expressions. He delivered dialogues with ease and showed variations in body language according to the situation.
Vijayashanthi came up with intense performance. She enacted high octane action scenes easily and brought in her experience to elevate scenes with her dialogue delivery, expressions and emotions.
Srikanth came up with a spirited performance and complimented Kalyan Ram and Vyjayanthi and the trio drove the narration forward in a fast paced and racy manner.
Sohail Khan made his appearance in the role of the antagonist. However, his character arc is not sketched properly.
Saiee Manjrekar looked beautiful and gorgeous on the screen. She didn't get scope to showcase his acting talent.
Others like Pruthvi, Sriram Reddy Polasane, Raghav Rudra Mulpuru, Sundip Ved, Ch Chandrakanth, Charan Raj, Satish Saripalli, Reddi Bhanu Prasad performed accordingly.
Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi story is penned by Pradeep Chilukuri. The narration starts in a powerful action packed scene with the introduction of Vijayashanthi and then Kalyan Ram.
The film is loaded with masses elements and the first half and second half head plenty of them. Pradeep Chilukuri blended the action elements along with mother son bonding and highlighted them with good emotional dialogues.
The second half however has many monotonous and outdated Elements. Though Pradeep Chilukuri included action elements and turned the film as a commercial entrainer, the story turned out to be outdated and weak.
The screenplay falls apart after an interesting start. The interesting boy predictable interval bang in the action packed first half sets the tone for the second half. The second half slides out even further with monotonous elements. The climax comes up with a surprising shocking twist.
The songs tuned by Ajaneesh Loknath are ok but he made a powerful impact with his background music. He elevated the scenes to the next level with his background score.
Ram Prasad's Cinematography is good and turned the film visually appealing showing the scenes in a rich manner.
Thammiraju's editing is good. Production values are high standards.
Altogether, Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi turns out to be mass entertainer with mother-son sentiment. It is known that, the makers from the film exuded confidence on the climax. It seems that even Pradeep Chilukuri got super excited and thrilled with the climax so much that he failed to concentrate on the film's story and content. The story assumed predictable trope and the screenplay treaded on the same lines.
Pradeep Chilkuri's story has all the commercial elements and got good performances from Kalyan Ram, Vijayashanthi and Srikanth. However, lack of strong antagonist and interesting developments in the story and narration acted as the stumbling blocks.
Had Pradeep Chilukuri fine tuned the script and included few interesting twists and turns, the impact would have been even intense.
Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi.
