New rules to check vandalisation of RTC buses

With the High Court coming in heavily on the people involved in arson and violence, the Government is proposing to frame rules to safeguard the RTC buses during agitations and dharnas.

Minister for Transport Shatrucharla Vijaramaraju told the media that ``the Government is planning to come out with new set of rules, which will hold the persons responsible for  destruction or damage of  the  buses liable to punishments. The  proposed punishment includes a year’s rigorous imprisonment and a penalty of Rs one lakh.’’

From now on, the vandals cannot get away as before, added the Minister.Some of the recent remarks made by the High Court against acts of riots and vandalism on RTC buses will also be included while framing the new rules, the Minister observed.
