Hyderabad, Feb 5: SEVEN persons were killed and at least six were injured on Friday when a three-storied Building, which is under construction, collapsed near Narayanguda fly-over, trapping many inside. The rescue operations are in progress.The police, the Fire services and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) pressed their men and machinery into service to remove the debris and carry out the rescue operations. Ambulances were rushed to the scene to shift the injured to Gandhi Hospital.

Panic spread in the busy Narayanaguda locality after the Building adjacent to Brilliant Grammar School collapsed around 2.30 p.m. Parents of children rushed to escort their wards back home as some television channels initially reported that the school Building had collapsed. The Brilliant School which was adjacent to the ill-fated Building declared a holiday and evacuated the students to ensure that none of the children are missing.

The collapsed Building is on the busy Barkatpura-Himayatnagar stretch and with thousands of curious people rushing in to the spot, the police found it tough to move the cranes and other equipment to the site.“The exact number of  casualties is still not yet ascertained but six to 10 people might have been trapped under the debris,” Hyderabad District Collector Naveen Mittal told reporters.
