Warangal, Feb 5: The district administration on Friday rejected the Kakatiya University Joint action Committee (KU JAC) request to accord permission to hold ‘Polikeka’ (students meeting) on the varsity premises on Feb 7.KU JAC had decided to hold a meeting at Kakatiya varsity 20 days back. Superintendent of Police Shaw Nawaz Khasim said the police declined to permit the ‘polikeka’ aprehending unruly behaviour of the students on the campus.KU students went to Major Irrigation Minister P Laxmaiah’s house and damaged window panes and raised slogans against him.

They confined Laxmaiah’s daughter-in-law Vysahli in a room, 15 days back, he said. In view of the law and order situation in the district, it was not possible for the police to accord permission to the students, Khasim added.The JAC members on Wednesday went to the SP’s office and sought permission to conduct polikeka. But the SP declined them the permission.On Friday, JAC member E Nageswar Rao moved the High Court to conduct meeting. The leaders said they had undertaken padayatra to villages to mobilize students. Even Telangana University, Shathavahana, Mahatma Gandhi and Osmania University students took out padayatras in their respective areas to mobilize students.However, works like construction of dais, fixing electric tubes and microphones etc are going on for the meeting peacefully, the JAC leaders said.
