Hyderabad, Jan 11: Minister for Housing Silpa Mohan Reddy on Monday said the ongoing process to weed out ineligible applicants who were allotted houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme would be completed by the last week of January and the government would take action to recover money from the bogus applicants. The Minister also said eligible beneficiaries from the SC and BC sections, who had not been able to complete work on their houses due to economic problems, would be given an aid of Rs 20,000 to enable them to do so.

The Minister was speaking to newsmen after a review meeting with Housing Department project directors. Mr Mohan Reddy also announced the appointment of special officers and the strengthening of vigilance to curb anomalies in allotment of houses under the scheme.Mohan Reddy revealed that the government would credit money into beneficiaries’ bank accounts or in post office accounts or through cheques to curb corruption.

The Housing Minister also announced that the government would  complete  construction of 52,838  houses in the flood affected Kurnool, Guntur, Mahabubnagar and Krishna districts by the last week of July. He said 27,72,150 houses were completed in the last five years.  Another 17,41,163 houses were under construction now,  and construction of 17,04,098 houses was yet to be  started  due to economic problems, absence of  ration cards, family problems and land dispute cases.
