Mysore,Dec 24: The world’s finest grand concert Piano produced by legendary german manufacturer Steinway & Sons is to regale Christians here before the X-mas eve. The pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham at Sri Ganapati Sachidananda Ashram will be the pianist for the party!The ‘D’ model grand Piano measuring 11.5 ft long and 7 ft width weighs about 800 kilograms. It is the biggest Piano ever made by Steinway over a five-year period.Ashram executive trustee H.V Prasad told newsmen that the grand Piano costs Rs one crore. It was gifted to ashram by American devotees.The ashram was contemplating to organise annual Piano concerts inviting world’s best pianists.“Experts from Steinway came to the ashram in July 2009 to install the instrument at Nada Mantap and took the acoustics of the hall to make the required modifications.

 We went to Germany in October to choose Piano of our choice before it was delivered on Dec 20,” Prasad told newsmen.It is said the craftsmanship of this grand Piano is superior to other grand Pianos housed at the world’s top ten concert halls like Madison Sqare Garden, USA; Wembley Stadium, England; Sydney Opera House, Australia; Festhalle, Germany; Slane Castle, Ireland; Red Rocks Amphitheatre, USA; The Palasi Omnisports De Paris Bercy, France and Manchester Evening News Arena, England among others.Holland pianist Mark Lobenstean, who gave the order specifications, said all the 21st legendary pianists prefer Steinway model D for recitals and concertos.

“Having spent many years playing Steinways in general, I can say from experience that nothing matches the sheer power put forth by this Piano. This particular D model, is the grandfather of their grand Piano line-up”, he added.
