Hyderabad,Dec 10: Even as Telangana Rashtra Samiti dropped its proposed ‘Chalo Assembly Peace Rally’ following the announcement of the procedural 'go-ahead' for constituting a Telangana state, the police on Thursday took extra care to beef up security measures and put traffic curbs in the city which inconvenienced the commuters.According to Director General of Police R R Girish Kumar, the traffic restrictions  in the city would be lifted in a phased manner. He, however, appealed to the people to cooperate with the police in this regard.“By evening, the police will ease the traffic restrictions in the city,” the DGP stated.Barricades set up within a radius of one kilometre around the Assembly House would not be removed,he said and indicated that the outer border check-post would immediately be lifted.

Sensing trouble from the joint action committee of Student’s Forum, the police raised barricades and stationed additional forces on the Assembly premises and elsewhere in sensitive localities in the city. The city traffic police also blocked all roads leading to the Assembly as the Students’Forum called for a victory rally to celebrate the announcement of separate Telangana. The security forces have begun allowing all vehicles including those of MLAs' into the Assembly after thorough check-up.The police blocked the traffic at many points and diverted them in the alternative routes. This put the commuters and visitors into difficulties. Many auto-rickshaw drivers were seen making a fast buck by fleecing commuters exorbitantly.Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Prasada Rao told media persons that the traffic would be restored by afternoon as the Students’ Forum dropped its proposed peace rally in the city.
