Caterers urge govt to raise prices of eatables

Warangal, July 30 :-

Though the state government has failed to revise reimbursement of prices to meals caterers in government hospitals, the sky-rocketing prices of daily commodities have raised edible item prices in hotels and restaurants.

The government has handed over the supply of catering of meals and breakfast for inpatients admitted to hospitals to contractors. They have to provide breakfast with three idlis and sambar to inpatients.

Meals with dal, a vegetable curry and curd along with egg for dinner have to provide at just Rs 20 per head. They have to provide half litre milk or 800 grams bread or roties to inpatients if the latter do not eat meals.

This meager amount is creating hurdles to contractors to continue the scheme.

According to government norms, private hospital management authorities are collecting Rs 100 from inpatients for three meals a day and it is Rs 200 in corporate super specialty hospitals.

The contractors are demanding the government to revise  the amount of money to supply quality food items to inpatients in hospitals.
