Hyderabad,Nov 20: The state government has taken adequate security measures to prevent any untoward incident in the Nov 23 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections,stated Ghmc Election Officer S P Singh on Friday.Sing told newsmen that 1646 polling stations in the Old City, new city and the outskirts have been identified as `sensitive'.Polling in the 150 divisions will be conducted under strict police surveillance and supervision of additional micro-observers drawn from the Central government. “More focus and attention on deployment of special forces is being directed at these polling booths,” he pointed out.

The city has been divided into 11 zones for the convenience of conducting elections and 20,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order,he added.The police set up 1,370 mobile teams,59 check-posts and 75 picket centres  to ensure free and fair polling.In order to help the blind people cast their votes,the government is printing ballot papers in Braille, he added.The counting of ballot papers will be taken up on Nov 26 in 26 centres across the city. The election results will be available by 1 p.m, he said.
