Strict norms to GHMC contestants

Hyderabad,Nov 16: The State Election Commission on Monday clarified that the contesting candidates of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Ghmc) polls can set up two election booths near a polling station if more than two polling stations are set up in a building or on a premises.On receiving representations from the political parties that are contesting the Ghmc polls, the State Election Commission said that “after careful consideration permits setting up of two election booths if more than two polling stations are set up in a building or premises.

” The contesting candidates are told to set up their election booths only 200 metres away from the polling station with one table and two chairs with an umbrella or a piece of tarpaulin to protect the occupants.Only one banner with stipulated measurements may be displayed showing the name of the candidate, the party and the election symbol is allowed to be displayed near the election booth,a Sate Election Commission release said here on Monday.
