V’wada hub for brown sugar?

Vijayawada,Nov 9: Four persons arrested in Narsapur on Sunday for carrying brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakh are from the city which has become a hub for brown sugar, opium and ganja peddlers  The police are on the lookout for the main accused Janibhai who operates this murky business from Mechanic shed at Bandal Locks here. The issue came to light after differences cropped up among the accomplices.Police are still clueless about Janibhai. During the interrogation from the arrested persons,it was revealed that brown sugar is being exported to Yanam on a large scale.Police highhandedness Relatives of a person,who died in road accident on Saturday night, staged a dharna on the road on Sunday evening were greeted by the police lathis.

The police instead of assuring the victims rained lathi blows even on the women.Mangalagiri Dasaratha (30) who worked in a steel factory died when a speeding car hit and fled the scene. Seven of his colleagues also sustained injuries. They were demanding the arrest of the erring car driver. The victim's wife Prasanna along with her relatives staged a sit-in on the road.Machavaram CI Lakshmipathi along with his staff asked them to disperse. When the relatives demanded immediate arrest of the driver, the CI got wild and resorted to indiscriminate lathicharge. Four persons, including a woman, were injured in the attack The controversial CI was earlier suspended for similar highhandedness in the past.
