Hyderabad, Oct 14:The Postal Department of Andhra Pradesh region has added one more feather to its cap.Very soon, the Postal department will launch a computerised passenger ticket reservation counter at the village post offices, first of its kind in South Central Railway, as part of Postal Week celebrations from October 9 to October 15.Talking to media persons on Wednesday, the Chief Post Master General of Andhra Pradesh Region Sunder Rajan said apart from post offices, Indian Railways proposed to utilise the services of village panchayats in remote and hilly areas to extend reservation facility for rural people.

He said that this facility would be extended to other post offices depending on the passengers’ response.“The project is a historic step to expand the reach of reserved tickets and bring it to the doorsteps of passengers even in remote villages,” chief post master general, told the media.Rajan said that the Railways Ministry will provide hardware, communication equipment and communication channels, facilities of accommodation, lighting, infrastructural arrangements and the staff for issuing the tickets will be provided by Postal Department.

Prior to the formal beginning, the staff will be imparted Training, he added.He said that the postal department wants to extend the parcel system to every nook and corner in the country.The benefits of Postal Life Insurance were extended to rural populace of the country under the banner of Rural Postal Life Insurance, he explained.
