Hyderabad,Oct 13: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday stating that the state officials were not alert in responding to serious note of warnings issued by  Central Water Commission (CWC) about the likely inflows of flood waters  to Srisailam dam during the recent floods.Taking the petition for trial, the High Court directed the State Government to submit its report on the issue to the court within two weeks. It may be recalled that the Central Water Commission Chairman A K Bajaj in an interview to media observed that the floods in state were man-made and alleged that the government had not responded to the alerts issued by the CWC.However, the state irrigation officials denied it vehemently.

Taking strong exception to it, Principal Secretary of Irrigation Department S P Tucker said that the CWC officials had given us inputs which proved to be wrong sometimes. He said the CWC had no flow-gauges below Roza in Kurnool district and Jurala. He said on the direction of Chief Minister, the irrigation department sent a detailed report on the floods to the Centre, detailing hourly inflows and discharge.
