 The State Government on Wednesday announced that all bogus ration cards would be weeded out by August 15 by undertaking an elaborate physical verification survey.

Disclosing this to media persons after conducting the video conference with the Collectors on Wednesday to review the progress of his assurances given to people during his tour of the district, he said the Government wanted to build a database based on IRIS de-duplication and physical verification of ration card datas.

The Government has decided to identify and weed out duplicate ration cards by using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets, he added.

The entire project would be taken up in a phased manner and all mandals would be covered in all the 23 districts. As the number of bogus white rationcards were more in the district, huge quantities of ration was going into the open market, he pointed out.

The Chief Minister said that in some villages, the ration shop dealers are giving some amount to the card holders and are selling rice and other commodities in black market.

He told the officials concerned that the genuine cardholders should not suffer in the bogus ration cards weed out drive.
