Kurnool, Oct 8 :

 The overflowing of flood waters on tracks between Mantralayam-Irnagallu and Yermaras-Chiksugur stations led to disruption of train services on Wadi-Raichur-Guntakal section, the main route between Western and Southern India, stated Minister of State for Railways K Muniyappa.

Talking to media persons after visiting flood hit areas in Kurnool district, here on Wednesday, the Minister said that the services on Mahabubnagar-Kurnool-Dhone section were also disrupted due to rise of water levels at Tungabadhra bridge between Kurnool town and Alampur stations. Besides rail traffic was suspended on Nandyal-Dhone section due to flooding of tracks between Nandyal and Panyam, the Minister said.

He said that railway line between Kurnool and Bangalore would be restored before October 15. Due to floods, the railways have cancelled 155 trains—104 trains temporarily and diverted 112 trains and the South Central Railway (SCR) has suffered a loss of Rs 25 crore in the floods across the state, he explained.
