Padma, wife of director and former union minister Dasari Narayana Rao died at a private hospital here on Friday. She is survived by her husband, two sons and a daughter.

She was not keeping well sine long and when the situation went precarious she was admitted to the hospital a couple of days back. The entire film industry shared the grief of Dasari family and went to his residence to console the bereaved family. 

Tamil Nadu Governor, K Rosaiah has sent a condolence message while director K Raghavendra Rao Producer D Rama Naidu, actor Mohan Babu and Murali Mohan representing Movie Artistes Association were among the prominent figures from Tollywood mourn the death of Padma. PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana and long with other political leaders also condoled the death of Padma

She was a producer of the some of the evergreen hit films directed by Dasari including Sivaranjani and Megah Sandesham. She was also women’s wing president of Tamil Nadu Congress for some time. 

Dasari drew influence from her wife and started Padma Arts banner under which he used to pursue his theatre career in early days when he was working in HAL. 

While the entire Tollywood mourned the death of Padma, Naga Chaitanya starrer Bezawada movie official trailer launch has been cancelled as a homage to her.  Fresh date will be issued by the production house shortly.

Meanwhile several film and political personalities, including chief minister K Kiran Kumar Reddy and N Chandra Babu Naidu paid homage to Padma (61) and offered condolences to the bereaved family members.

The last rites will be performed tomorrow at Dasari’s farm house at Moinabad.
