Veteran actress Jayanthi breathed his last on Monday, July 26 in the city of Bangalore. She had suffered from the breathing related issues for the past couple of days. Jayanthi was 76. Late actor and director Peketi Sivaram was Jayanthi's husband.
Jayanthi, who acted in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Marathi films, made her Telugu film debut with small role in ANR's Bharyabharthalu released in 1961. Thereafter she played prominent roles in more than 500 films. Jagadekaveeruni Katha, Bhaktha Prahlada, Collector Janaki, Mayadari Malligadu, Kondaveeti Simham, Donga Mogudu and Kaliyuga Pandavulu are some of her best offings.
Jayanthi won 4 Karnataka state best actress awards. She also bagged the president's medal and Filmfare awards.
