Belonging to Moga district of Punjab, actor Sonu Sood has been in the news all of the lockdown for the helping hand that he provided for those less privileged. Helped migrants reach their homes during the lockdown, the actor has been announced as the Punjab state icon by the Election Commission of India.

The statement quoting Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Karuna Raju said his office had sent a proposal to the ECI in this regard and they approved the same. Reacting to the news, Sonu Sood also expressed his happiness and said, "I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for this honour. Having been born in Punjab, this appointment means so much to me, emotionally. I am happy to have made my state proud of me and I am motivated to keep working hard."

In other news, Sood who has been hailed as a real-life hero for his relief efforts during the coronavirus pandemic feels that he still has a long way to go before he is the subject of a biopic.

Sonu also revealed the one condition on which he would allow a film to be made on his life. In an interview, the actor said that he would want to play himself in his biopic as he has "earned the right to be in it".

Sonu Sood is presently starring in Bellamkonda Srinivas’s Alludu Adhurs under the direction of Santosh Srinivas.
