Dil Raju Effect: 52 Movies Rejected

Following the closure of theaters in this pandemic time, OTT paved way for producers and enthusiastic film makers to find an alternative platform to exhibit their talent. 

Like any other business, film industry is also a place where big bucks are involved and the ultimate motto of any producer who invested money will be to recover at least his investment, forget about profits in these hard times. But, the current situation of OTTs is worse because lucky handed producer Dil Raju seems to have killed a golden goose.

Vexed by the commercial performance of V on OTT, big players like Amazon Prime, ZEE 5 and NETFLIX have shut the doors on the faces of many producers. A reliable report from Film Nagar says… various OTTs have rejected nearly 52 movies in last few weeks quoting the reasons of low quality content and presentation.

Due to the lackluster performance of V and Nishabdham, now all the OTTs are demanding producers to come up with detailed cost of their respective projects to compare and analyze the final product’s quality with the investment made.

A new producer is learnt to have borrowed 50 Lakhs to finish the balance production patch work and post production lured by a fancy offer from one of the prime OTTs. Post V, shockingly the price of his same final product fell down by more than 50% of what was offered before. Likewise, final prices of many films are either slashed indiscriminately by OTTs or rejected out rightly.

Dreams of many such small time producers are smashed at once and their hopeless situation will continue till the point of time theaters reopen for public viewing.
