Super Hit Remake Direct OTT Release, Sold For 90 Cr

It’s now almost confirmed that, Akshay Kumar’s latest flick Laxmmi Bomb will have direct OTT release. Disney Plus Hotstar has grabbed the rights shelling out whopping Rs 90 Crores, after makers agreed for direct digital release. Although release date is not yet locked, the film is expected to have digital premiere for Eid, most probably.

As is known, Laxmmi Bomb is official remake of super hit Kanchana. Raghava Lawrence who directed the Telugu/Tamil version helmed the Hindi version as well. Kiara Advani plays leading lady in the hilarious horror entertainer.

Excluding Akshay Kumar’s remuneration, the film was made on a budget of Rs 40 Crores. So producers will pocket huge profits, given they will get additional revenue in terms of satellite and other rights.

There’s chance of the makers opting for theatrical release, once the lockdown restrictions are lifted and permissions are given for re-opening of theaters.

Meanwhile, while some fans are objecting the idea of direct OTT release, others are appreciating Akshay Kumar for his concern over producers.
