In order to engage audience till the end, filmmakers are making sure to cut their films to idle runtime, deleting unnecessary episodes. Interestingly, star heroes are taking the huge risk by locking their film’s runtime close to 3 hours.

In recent times, Young Rebel Star Prabhas’s Saaho and Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy had final duration close to three hours. While Saaho turned out to be a disaster in Telugu and a super in Hindi, Sye Raa is turning out to be a hit in Telugu and disaster in all other languages.

Now, another star hero’s film is locked for lengthy runtime. Tamil hero Vijay’s Vigil (Whistle in Telugu) will have a runtime of 2 hr 59 minutes. Sources say 7 minutes is allocated for end credits, (including making video. So actual runtime is 2hr 52min. Still, this is a lengthy runtime.

Apparently, makers are confident enough to engage audience for such lengthy runtime. However, analysts opine, better filmmakers should lock their films for crisp runtime.
