Acclaimed film actress, producer and director Vijaya Nirmala breathed her last on the early hours of Thursday, 27th of June, 2019 at Continental Hospital, Gachiboowli, Hyderabad due to cardiac arrest. She was 73 and is survived by husband hero Krishna and a son Naresh who is also an actor. 

Vijaya Nirmala made her film debut  as a child artist at the age of 7 in a Tamil film titled Macha Rekha released in 1950. She was seen on Telugu silver screen as Bala Krishnudu in Panduranga Mahatmyam, a 1957's mythological film.

Vijaya Nirmala enacted around 200 films which include 25 Tamil, 25 Malayalam and the rest are Telugu films. As a director, she wielded megaphone for 44 films. She and Savitri were the only film actresses to have directed legendary film actor Shivaji Ganesan.

Vijaya Nirmala entered Guinness Book of World Records in 2002 as the female director of most of the films. She was honoured with prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah award by the AP government in 2008. 

Vijaya Nirmala's sudden demise is an irrecoverable loss to Indian film industry. Cinejosh is immensely saddened with her demise. Our heartfelt condolences to the members of her family. May her soul rest in peace!
