Top director Ar Murugadoss earlier faced plagiarism claims and he is now once again in news for copy right allegations. An upcoming writer Varun Rajenderan claimed that Murgadoss lifted his story of Sengol to make Sarkar with Vijay. The issue has finally been resolved with a big embarrassment for Murugadoss.

Varun Rajenderan filed a petition in Madras High Court and Murgadoss initially stated the writer's allegations as cheap publicity stunts. However, producers of Sun Pictures had to admit that the story belongs to Varun Rajenderan and they accepted to give due credit to him.
