The DMK party's president and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Dr M Karunanidhi is no more. He breathed his last at 6:10 pm on Tuesday, 7th of August, 2018 at Cauvery Hospital, Chennai. 

Karunanidhi was hospitalized after his health was suddenly declined some days ago due to blood pressure issues. Despite the maximum medical support by the Cauvery Hospital's doctors, Karunanidhi's vital organ functions continued to decline today which led Karunanidhi breathed his last this evening.

Karunanidhi was 94. He was the 3rd CM of Tamil Nadu state. He assumed the charges as a CM for the frist time in the year 1969 while he held the same responsibilities between 2006 and 2011.

Karunanidhi is survived by three sons MK Muthu, MK Alagiri, MK Stalin and a daughter Kanimozhi. Karunanidhi shot to fame for his writing works in the Tamil film industry. 

In the wake of Karunanidhi's demise, the Tamil Nadu police declared high alert in the state. The government cancelled all of its official programmes which are planned on 8th and 9th of this month.

Karunanidhi's demise is an irrecoverable loss to Tamil Nadu. Cinejosh expresses deep condolences to the family of Karunanidhi. May his soul rest in peace!
