Dasari Narayana Rao Breathes His Last

Renowned director Darshakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao breathed his last at around 7 pm on Tuesday, 30th of May at KIMS Hospital, Hyderabad. He was 75. He suffered renal failure and was admitted in ICU of KIMS hospital this afternoon. The doctors, however, informed to the media that the director's heart stopped functioning and they tried to revive it. However, all their attempts went in vain.

Born on 4 May 1942 at Palakollu of West Godavari district, Dasari Narayana Rao emerged as the one and only director of the world to have directed 151 films and got his name entered in Guinness Book of World Records. He also produced 53 films while worked for 250 films as a dialogue writer. Further, Dasari appeared on screen as a character artist in several films.

Dasari left his mark in politics as well. He held the responsibilities as a minister of state in coal ministry in Congress government. Dasari also ran popular newspaper 'Udayam' during 1980s. 

Dasari shot to fame with 'Thatha Manavadu' in 1973. From then on he directed many hits and super duper hits such as Swargam Narakam, Shivaranjani, Bobbili Puli, Sardaar Paparayudu, Premabhishekam, Osey Ramulamma, Orey Rickshaw etc. 

Dasari won many Filmfare, Nandi and other awards for his films. He was honoured with Kalaprapoorna by Andhra University. Throughout his career, Dasari backed small budget films and small filmmakers. There were many occasions wherein Dasari fought for the welfare of small filmmakers. 

Dasari's demise is undoubtedly an irrecoverable loss to Indian film industry and especially for Telugu people. Cinejosh is deeply saddened with death of this legendary personality. Our heartfelt condolences to the members of his family. May his soul rest in peace!
