Cheap Newspaper's 'Cheap' Film Criticism

A Telugu Newspaper in the state is available with a very cheap price of just Rs.2/-. A four-page special film edition is offered by the Newspaper on every Friday. Strangely, the film criticism in that edition also appears quite 'cheap', like the paper's price. The low standards of film journalism are being exhibited by the Newspaper is as follows.

* The Newspaper hates big movies and likes small movies. However, the paper never tries to take good from big films and bad from small films. Obviously, the review ratings for big films are poor rather small films. The Newspaper must understand maximum cine goers of the state turn 'maharajaposhakulu' of big movies only, as they want to get every penny back to their pockets through the technical standards and richness of the movie. However, it doesn't mean to discourage small budget films. Whenever, people feel freshness in a movie, they make it a big success. 'Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde' is the best example of its kind.

* Strangely, the Newspaper has given a full page article criticizing the deletion of 'Naidu' from 'Raghupathi Venkaiah by the government. These kind of unnecessary controversies create stir among the public.

* The Newspaper cried for ticket price hike. Well, the Newspaper must understand the maintenance charges of theaters have been doubled including salaries of the employees. Hence, ticket price hike is a must for the exhibitors. Otherwise, theaters will be closed down.

* Under the column 'Trade Talk', the Newspaper writes blunders of collections and trends of movies many times. The journalists must be aware of giving a transparent data of the status of the movies.
