It's Not 'Theaters Mafia'

Recently, it is heard that some of the small budget movie makers were annoyed with some of the film distributors, who have taken most number of theaters to lease across the state. The small budget movie makers are complaining that Theaters Mafia is responsible for the poor run of their movies. We have seen that one of the small budget movie makers has staged a dharna recently, in one of the theaters of Hyderabad for the lifting of their film from the theater. Though some of the industry people are supporting the small budget movie makers, the version of big distributors, who have taken lease to the theaters, is different. They are coming up with the following arguments to prove they are doing right.

* Most number of audiences are not coming forward to watch small budget movies and the movies of senior most faded out heroes and hence the exhibitors and distributors are not getting proper openings from the small budget flicks. Unfortunately, those movies are getting deficit in the first week of their releases itself. However, there are a few exceptions as movies like 'Ala Modalaindi', 'Ee Rojullo', 'Pilla Zamindaar', which run quite well in theaters. However, they are very limited in number.

* In contrast, if they exhibit the movies of star heroes, they will get good collections in the form of openings of those movies. Even though the movies get flop talk, they get at least average collections through those movies.

* Moreover, it is not an ordinary task to maintain theaters. Unless the theaters maintained well, people don't prefer to watch the movies in those theaters. Employees should be given salaries on time. Canteen owners and cycle stand owners should get profits. In this scenario, big distributors are challenging their opponents to come forward and run at least one theater of the state, so that they would know the ground realities and the difficulties of exhibiting a movie.
