All the Jazz and rhythm is missing Telugu music industry, which people proudly say has shifted to city. The industry has to depend on other cities for technicians and orchestration.

Though it was decided in a recent meeting that outsiders will not be allowed to operate from the city, the meeting was attended and decided by some producers and others but no senior music director was called for it, laments popular singer SP Balasubrhmanyam.

In an interview to a website, he said, there is a dearth of technicians in the city and people have to be called from outside. The issue should be discussed threadbare with people who are in the music field for long to bring out a solution, he said.

No senior singer, including P Susheela, S Janaki or myself was consulted before passing the rule that all recordings should be done in the city itself.

In his lengthy interview, the star singer recounted the changes that took place in song recording. While it was a 7.00 to 1.00 call sheet earlier, now each song is taking days together for recording despite the advent of technology, he said.

He also expressed concern over the lack of archives of Telugu songs. “Is it possible to see a  clipping of Ghantasala’s old song now,” he asks.

SP Balasubrahmanyam, who stopped singing in films after he was operated on the voice buds for the second time hosts and super hit musical show, Padutha Teeyaga aired by a popular TV channel.
