Vijay's highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan has been facing delays due to censor board issues and court proceedings. The film's team has submitted a fresh cut to the CBFC, and makers are planning to withdraw the case, paving the way for a potential release. The producers have informed distributors they're aiming for a February 20 release, pending official announcements.

The uncertainty surrounding Jana Nayagan's release has disrupted Tamil cinema's release calendar, slowing business and stalling planning. The Madras High Court had directed the CBFC to grant a UA 16+ certificate to the film, but the board appealed, leading to a stay on the certification. The Supreme Court has asked the Madras High Court to decide on the matter. If released on February 20, Jana Nayagan would avoid the Ramadan period and potential election code restrictions.
