Panchayatraj Minister Bottsa Satyanarayana, who has set his eyes on the Pradesh Congress Committee president post, seeks to prove his mettle that he is a visionary. His farsight and ability to become the 'key-player' in the future politics of Andhra Pradesh may put him in the right focus.

Botsa is the first among the Andhra and Rayalaseema ministers to pronounce convincingly that Telangana might become the second Telugu-speaking state in the country, if it is given separate statehood.

Coming from the backward Vizianagaram district, Botsa known for his progressive ideas, is among the top-ranking leaders in the state whose name is doing the rounds for the PCC chief post after the incumbent quit the post following the ignominous defeat in the Nizamabad Asembly constituency.

Incidentally, Botsa came into the open on Tuesday to lavish praises on Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Chandrasekhar Rao for his leadership of the T-movement. He passed laudable encomiums on KCR for sacrificing his ministerial post for the cause of Telangana.

The Congress Party may be in a disadvantage, in case the report of the Srikrishna Committee, which is compiling public opinions from the three regions, favours a Telangana setup. The TRS almost clean-bowled the Congress in the recent byelections to Telangana region.

Hence, the party may require an ambassador like Botsa who can steer the Congress flag into the Telangana heartland and win the support of the electorate.

An alliance with TRS may seem to be the better idea than going alone into the electoral battle where leaders like Botsa may fit-in as negotiator for the Congress Party to forge its alliance politics with harmony.
