A host of Congress leaders on Wednesday stood solidly behind the controversial statements made by senior party leader Ambatti Rambabu hailing the leadership of Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his successful development programmes in the state.
Earlier in the day, Rambabu told newsmen in Guntur that the State has been suffering from a leadership crisis after the death of Dr YSR and the present leadership is incapable of winning the byelections in the Telangana region.
Congress MLA Kolla Padmavathi also supported Ambatti Ramababu by stating that Rambabu's statemennts as ''genuine and without exaggeration''. However, Padmavathi hastened to add that the present situation in the state is like a storm in a teacup and will be blown over very soon.
Padmavathi who also visited East Godavari district along with Kadapa MP YS Yagan during his Odarpu Yatra said there is a mass following for Jagan in the north coastal districts. She explained her experience at Odarpu Yatra as nothing short of a tear-jerker. The simple love of the people of the district would reflect how deeply they lover Dr YSR, she added.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has already created a stir in Congress circles by declaring that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is in for a sweep in the just-concluded bypolls in Telangana region.
