Mr Akbar made some unwarranted remarks against the Chair on Monday and rushed to the podium following which all the MIM legislators were suspended for the day. “I tender an apology for my behavior on Monday if it has hurt the Speaker and I extremely feel sorry for that,” Mr Akbaruddin said minutes before the House was adjourned for tea on Wednesday.

“No doubt, I was a bit agitated on that day. But that was only to bring the people’s problems to the notice of the House. I would not have behaved like that,” he explained.

He said that the MIM members are not getting proper attention of the Chair. The MIM Floor leader expressed gratitude to the Leader of the Opposition and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, for having stood behind him on Monday. “Though my party was strongly opposed to the TDP policies for the past one decade, on Monday Mr Naidu solidly stood behind me and I express my profound thanks to him for that,” he stated.

He, however did not leave the Congress which has been taking the support of the MIM. “I also thank the Congress for having supported the suspension of our legislators on Monday despite having taking our support in the House,” he remarked with a rather sarcastic tone.
