Jagan didn't seek Govt permission for 'Odarpu'

Kadapa MP Ys Jaganmohan Reddy has not approached the State Government, let alone seeking  permission for the controversial 'Odarpu Yatra'. This has come from none other than the horse's mouth.

Clarifying the State Government’s official posture on the 'Odarpu Yatra', Chief Minister K Rosaiah said on Saturday that ``It is for the High Command to permit Jagan to go-ahead with his Yatra. But we would like to provide him all protection if he takes up the Odarpu Yatra.’’

Following the Congress High Command’s refusal to grant permission for the sympathy tour, the  Kadapa MP is now in a dilelmma whether to embark on the yatra or to abandon it.

With the ministers in the Rosaiah’s Cabinet and many MLAs making it amply clear that they would not defy the High Command’s order, Jagan is now contemplating to keep off the Odarpu yatra.

Senior Congress leaders, who met Jagan to discuss the Odarpu yatra in the last couple of days  advised him against taking the yatra as party High Command was opposed to the move.

According to informed sources, AICC president Sonia Gandhi conveyed the message to Vijayalakshmi, widow of late YSR asking her not to seek permission for her son’s Odarpu yatra. With the Congress president’s snub, the proposed consolation tour of Jagan in Srikakulam district from June 8 hangs in balance.
