Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha Kapoor on Saturday met Chief Minister K Rosaiah at his Camp Office and informed him of the extra-constitutional role of City Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy’s husband Chandra Reddy during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ward committee elections.

The meeting assumed significance as the MLA declared an open war on Thursday against the Mayor and threatened to go to the party bosses and  offered to quit her MLA seat on the issue, if needed.

According to sources, Jayasudha informed the Chief Minister of the role played by Mayor’s husband Chandra Reddy in omitting the names of four candidates suggested by her for the ward committee elections.

Demanding action against Chandra Reddy, she urged Chief Minister to look into the issue and sought suitable action on the leader.

Talking to reporters, Jayasudha said the Chief Minister has promised to look into the issue after discussing it with Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.

However, Jayasudha stated that she had no differences with Mayor Karthika Reddy. "I want only action against her husband Chandra Reddy for interferring in the selection of candidates for ward committee elections" Jayasudha stated.

Earlier, Mayor Karthika Reddy denied that her husband had any role to play in the selection of ward panels and informed this to the Chief Minister.

Mayor Karthika Reddy said the names suggested by Jayasudha were not considered as they worked against Congress party in the GHMC polls by supporting the BJP candidates.
